As well as playing host to some of the greatest musical talents this world has seen, Common People 2016 will also champion some of the most exciting artists the UK has to offer.
We’ve compiled a list of just some of the new artists you can discover at the May bank holiday weekend event…
Where better to start than the south coast’s very own Signals? This female-fronted math-pop four-piece will be preforming on the Joiners’ curated Uncommon Stage on Saturday 28th May. They’ve also just released the video for their latest single Paraethesia which has already racked up thousands of views, and can be seen below:
Sister-duo Xylaroo will be performing on the Common Stage at Common People ahead of the release of their début album Sweetooth on 3rd June. Common People 2016 will see the start of the festival season for Xylaroo, which will also see the Sunday Best signees play at Boardmasters in Cornwall.
The Magic Gang
Following successful tours with Wolf Alice and Swim Deep, Brighton-based four-piece The Magic Gang will be bringing their popular show to the Common Stage on Sunday 29th May. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the lads perform before they take on the likes of Reading/Leeds and Latitude Festival as part of one of their busiest summer schedules to date.
Southampton four-piece Cassava are no strangers to the south coast music scene and the Joiners’ favourites will be bringing their set to the Uncommon Stage on the Sunday of Common People 2016. It’s fair to say the boys are doing quite well and it wouldn’t surprise me if tracks like Martha will be played on the radio very soon. Watch this space…
‘I Want To Play At Common People’ winners Wild Front will be opening the Common Stage on Saturday 28th May, after fending off stiff competition at the Joiners last month. The quartet have also managed to land themselves slots at Y-Not Festival and Truck Festival, but you can see them first at Common People 2016!
Common People 2016 will be headlined by Duran Duran and Craig David’s TS5 plus special guests Primal Scream, as well as Katy B, Public Enemy, Jamie Lawson, The Chuckle Brothers and many, many more. For the full line-up, please see here.
Tickets are still available for the event and can be purchased here.
