Celebrate 40 Years of Punk at the Isle of Wight Festival 2016!

As part of the Isle of Wight Festival’s celebration of 40 years of punk, 5 new acts have today been confirmed for the festival!

Isle of Wight Festival favourites Iggy Pop will be making a welcome return to the festival and they will be joined by 80s legend Adam Ant, Buzzcocks, The Damned and The Godfathers. They join previously announced Sex Pissed Dolls in what is set to be a real treat for punk fans alike.

Organisers explain, “1976 is widely seen as the year that punk was born. The Sex Pistols signed to EMI Rec-ords, and started to generate significant press coverage – not least for their infamous in-terview in December of that year with Bill Grundy. The Ramones released their debut al-bum in 1976, and the year saw the formation of not only The Damned and The Buzzcocks, but also other punk legends and luminaries such as The Clash, The Slits, X-Ray Spex, Black Flag and The Adverts.”
